After SPIN! “Question to Leo and Howard – At the annual meeting of the State Bar Association retiring Judge Donald Stephens criticized Legislative attempts to reduce judicial terms to two years and intimating that the move was retribution to judges who lawmakers feel are striking down their legislative decisions. House Rules Chair David Lewis said, “some would argue that we do have some activist judges, and the thought would be if you’re going to act like a legislator, perhaps you should run like one.” comment on Lewis’ statement and the threat to judicial independence.”
