After SPIN! "Question to John Hood and Chris Fitzsimon – This week a three-judge panel on the Court of Appeals overturned a 2017 ruling that state retirees were entitled to free health insurance after retiring. The panel said they were entitled to access to health insurance but no guarantee for free insurance was made. What’s your reaction to this decision?"

Norm Kelly says:

As a liberal Chris is pre-disposed to hate, oppose, object to any tax cut. Just because some tax somewhere for some group was cut does not mean that revenue to the state goes down. There are definitely areas that the state spends money on that they should not.

What does the statistical analysis say about state revenue since the tax cuts? What organization has looked at revenue since the cut? If revenue has gone up, then the cuts were a benefit to the state. But no liberal ever considers a tax cut an advantage. Liberals always claim that tax cuts are bad for the state and the groups that benefit from the cuts don't need it or don't deserve it.

On the flip side, if taxes are cut for businesses, does it mean the state doesn't have to bribe businesses to either move or expand here? If the tax level were competitive with surrounding states, could NC then claim that bribing business is not needed and therefore save the state even more money? And there's a point of diminishing returns where reducing tax rates actually costs the state and these cuts make no sense. The flip side is that increasing taxes has the same impact: at some point the increase causes revenue to fall and businesses/residents leave the area because it costs too much to be here. So, there is a fine line of what's the right level of taxation. Except no liberal has ever admitted this. Liberals ALWAYS believe raising taxes is a good thing and should be done as often and as much as possible.

Think about it, do some research. When was the last time you ever heard a liberal anywhere in the nation say that any tax cut was good? What's the challenge with tax cuts for liberals? Even when it's proven to them, as in the case of our prior socialist president, that their tax increase would most definitely reduce gov't take, they insist that raising the tax is needed. Pointless and counterproductive, but absolutely in line with the socialist agenda of always raising taxes and always wanting to penalize some group.
