I would be more than willing to pay a mileage tax IF our roads would actually be improved, I have to wonder though since NC has one of the highest gas tax rates in the country & we still have about the worst roads in the country. I swerve all over the roads here in Albemarle trying to avoid pot holes & man holes that are 3 inches lower or 3 inches higher than the pavement, not to mentions 'seams' that stick up 2-3 inches. I feel sure cars would last years longer if not driven on such rough roads. My daughter lives on an unpaved road in Tennessee, it is way better maintained & much smoother than roads right here in town. TN is one of the lowest tax states in the country. Maybe we should give up on pavement? Take it up & drive on dirt? Anything would be an improvement.
