Dunn, NC
Highland Scots made their way up the Cape Fear River to settle in Dunn. With lots of trees and water access to the coast, naval stores and logging thrived. Early on, commissioners ordered the often-rambunctious town fenced to keep pigs and chickens in and livestock out.
Along the way the name changed from Wade to Lucknow to Dunn, named after the civil engineer who built the railroad through town. General William Lee, father of the American Airborne is a native son and a museum honors him. Dunn is near four community colleges and Campbell University. A walking trail, nearby Raven Rock State Park, Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and four nearby golf courses provide recreation.
Located near the interchange of I-40 and I-95, the All-America City of Dunn is convenient and comfortable to both the 10,000 residents and thousands of visitors.
