Cary, NC
In the 1750’s Allison Frank Page bought 300 acres of land in an area called Bradford’s Ordinary. He named the town after Samuel Cary, a national prohibition leader.
Growth exploded in the 1960s as jobs in nearby Research Triangle Park lured thousands of workers. Ninety percent of Cary residents have Internet acesss and enjoy the highest median household income statewide. Money Magazine named Cary the hottest town in the East, one of six Hottest Towns in America , and as fifth among the best places to live.
Cary was first in the state to have a tree protection bill, to fully fund its own traffic signal system, to recycle wastewater for irrigation, and to have the first public high school.
The NC Symphony performs each summer .Cary’s Lazy Daze festival lures 60,000 each year. The SAS Soccer Park hosts world class events, as does the new Baseball National Olympic Training Center.
