Hope Mills, NC

In 1766 the combination of water power and an abundance of timber helped start the first saw mill and grist mill at Hope Mills. Seven miles southwest of Fayetteville it was originally called Little Rockfish Village.

In 1839 a cotton mill was opened and Hope Mills Lake became the centerpiece of the town, a popular place for both swimming and fishing. General Sherman destroyed the cotton mill and other buildings on his march through the South.

In 2003 heavy rains caused a breach in the Little Rockfish Creek dam but this fast growing community of 12,000 is rebuilding the dam. South View High School has won State Championships in six different sports. And crowds enjoy Ole Mill Days, the annual fall celebration of the heritage as a former cotton mill village.

Hope Mills is conveniently located near four major hospitals, ten miles from Fort Bragg, and near five shopping centers. A strong sense of community spirit makes Hope Mills an ideal Carolina Community.
