Democrats have the best political strategy of the 12th Century

Democrats took a thumpkin’ in 2010 and 2012 North Carolina elections. For more than a century they ruled the roost in state government (with the exception of Governors Holshouser and Martin and the 1994 House) and pretty much ran roughshod over the GOP. The tables are turned and Democrats are trying to figure out how to retake control. So far their strategies in dealing with a Republican governor and Republican legislature have been anything but impressive.

How do they get their mojo back, win favor with voters and win elections? Their strategy seems to be to “cripple” GOP leaders, “eviscerate the leadership and weaken their ability to govern,” “find out where they are weak and use that to your advantage.” Blueprint North Carolina claims Governor McCrory and the legislature are out of control. Who’s calling who out of control? Perhaps this strategy might have worked in the Crusades but all it will do today is doom Democrats to irrelevance.

In the game of politics there is plenty of room for the loyal opposition but if Democrats are serious about regaining control of our state they need to do more than throw grenades.  Whinin’, complaining, vicious and mean-spirited rhetoric ne’er won the hearts of voters. The electorate will vote against instead of for these tactics.  And the defense of telling us Republicans have done the same thing ranks up there will mom’s asking you if you will jump off the cliff just cause Billy did.

Come on Dems. We need two parties. We need honest and civil discussion. We want new ideas. You don't rally the troops with mean spirited rhetoric, you just turn people off. We thought better of you than this.
