HB2, General Assembly threw McCrory off his game

In the near or far future, Republican Gov. Pat McCrory will have to accept the election results and that he lost to Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper. Maybe the governor will then take time to figure why he was one of the few Republicans seeking statewide office unable to ride President-elect Trump's GOP train to victory. We suspect he'll realize he gave away his best asset: A business focus. Or as the famous saying goes, "It's the economy, stupid."

As Charlotte's longest-serving mayor, McCrory was seen as a moderate politician focused on economic growth. As governor, he got pulled into unsavory fights championed by a hard-right General Assembly, most notably the debacle House Bill 2, the so-called bathroom bill. He became a full-throated champion for a law widely considered discriminatory and that drove away millions in investment. In the process, he looked less like a leader and more like a man being borne along by events. He has shown leadership in guiding a battered state after Hurricane Matthew, but the damage to his reputation has been done. McCrory the business man might have won re-election. McCrory the socially conservative warrior is out of a job, or will be.

If indeed McCrory lost this past election it was due to his relationship with Duke power and Not due to HB2. McCrory was made a scapegoat by the media and the liberal fascist throughout the nation over the idiotic legalization of allowing perverts into women's and childrens bathrooms by the criminals is Charlotte's local govt. What's more cooper would not have even been in the past election had the state legislature done it's job and removed cooper from office for his refusing to perform it's duties. Now sadly it seems North Carolina will have four years of a hillary clinton wanna-be as it's governor.

GOP Whiners will now begin to appear concerning this election. The above comment is only the beginning. McCrory continued to be the apologist for Duke Energy's continued pollution from coal ash sites throughout NC..(Dan River was three years ago!), tried to push oil/gas drilling on the NC coastline, while those Counties said "No"...Got lot's of money from the fossil fuel nitwits like the Koch brothers and the RNC..and still lost. Glad to see that his appointee Art Pope will have to step down as well. And that Morgan defeated Edmunds for the NC Supreme Court...about time!
