| NC Notable for 3/31/05 |
Bob Jordan
Humility,
integrity, service, and leadership summarize the life of this week’s NC Notable, Bob Jordan from Mt. Gilead. Bob graduated with honors from NC
State in Forestry. He served in the state Senate and four years as Lieutenant Governor, where he championed children and the homeless. As president of
his family owned Jordan Lumber Company Bob has been actively involved in civic causes and has given generously of his time and resources. The Jordan
Center at the Methodist Home for Children is evidence of the concern Bob and his wife Sarah have for young people. An advocate for education Bob has
served on the State Board of Education and Community College Board, as well as the UNC Board of Governors. He has played an active role in economic development,
having served as chairman of the North Carolina Economic Development Board. With all these accomplishments Bob Jordan remains a humble public servant
and is this week’s NC Notable.
