Darleen Johns
 In the male-dominated field of information technology Darleen Johns of Raleigh founded and has built a company with a sterling reputation and over 300 employees. Darleen was a secretary for the NC Department of Transportation when she saw that word processing and computers were taking over. She founded her own company, Alphanumeric, and became a leading entrepreneur, serving as president of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Although a staunch advocate for women in business her philosophy has always been don't do business with me because I'm a woman but because I'm the best at what I do. Darleen Johns has served on more boards and commissions that you can imagine and has been awarded often for her leadership and caring for others. For her contributions to business and society we proudly recognize Darleen Johns of Alphanumeric as this week's NC Notable.
