| NC Notable for 9/29/05 |
Van Eure
Van Eure is North Carolina's Queen of Hospitality. Eure owns and operates The Angus Barn, one of the top 50 grossing restaurants in the country and unquestionably the home of the best food and service in the land. Eure was five when her dad started the restaurant and never thought she would come home after college to work in it, but at an early age she became the general manager and sole owner when her mom died. On a typical night you see Van roaming the 600-seat restaurant ensuring that her guests receive superior service and food. Her employees adore working with her and turnover at the barn is an industry low. Van and her family established the Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness which has awarded over $2 million in research grants and later the annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope, just one of many charities the Barn aids. In 2003, the National Restaurant Association named Van Eure their Cornerstone Humanitarian of the Year and in 2004, she was named Foodservice Operator of the Year and Gold Plate Award winner by the International Manufacturer's Association. Van Eureâs days are filled with family, humanitarian efforts, and as leader of an exemplary restaurant. We are proud to recognize Van Eure as this week's NC Notable.
