Ty Boyd

Ty BoydTy Boyd lives his message of energy, optimism and excellence. This salesman, author, broadcaster, speaker and executive communications coach has reached more than 1 million people on five continents. Boyd started in communications at age 15, hosting “The Funeral Hour” on his hometown radio station. He spent five years at WCHL Radio in Chapel Hill and announced news, weather, sports and weather on TV in Durham, where Boyd also hosted the “Top 10 Dance Party” and the UNC Football Show with coach Jim Tatum.

WBT in Charlotte hired Boyd in 1961, replacing the legendary Grady Cole. Ty Boyd became a legend himself. In 1980, Boyd traded television for executive coaching. He and his wife founded Ty Boyd Executive Learning Systems. Boyd received numerous awards including the National Speaker Association’s Cavett Award. He was inducted into both the Broadcasters and Speakers Halls of Fame.

For Boyd, life is not what you get from the world, but what you bring to it. Boyd’s unrelenting optimism and boundless energy make him this week’s NC Notable.
