Terry Holland
 North Carolina basketball in the 1960s was filled with a constellation of stars, including this week’s Notable, Terry Holland.
A native of Clinton, Holland has been a respected leader in collegiate athletics for nearly four decades. His journey began on the basketball court of Davidson College. He returned there in 1990 to head the school’s athletic department.
Holland spent a bulk of his career at University of Virginia. He began in 1974 as the head basketball coach and became one of the most successful in the school’s history. In 1995 he became the Athletic Director, overseeing the $86 million expansion of the university’s football stadium and the new $130 million sports arena.
In 2004, Holland became the Athletics Director at East Carolina University, where he is ushering a new generation of sports stars. . He is a member of both the Virginia and North Carolina Sports Halls of Fame. Terry Holland is this week’s NC Notable.
