Gail Goestenkors
 Even with the recent heart-breaking loss in the Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship, this week’s NC Notable, Gail Goestenkors is always winning big with students and fans.
Over the past 14 years she has turned the women’s program into a national powerhouse, making her Duke’s all-time winningest coach. “Coach G” has won five straight regular season titles and ACC Championships - and first appearances in the Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, Final Four, and National Championship games.
A youthful competitiveness, along with coaching from her favorite basketball mentor, her dad, helped her become an All American player. A self-described perfectionist, Coach G’s reputation as a juggernaut shows in both her career record and numerous awards. They include a string of ACC Coach of the Year accolades, National Coach of the Year, and duties in the USA Olympic and World Championship teams.
Her sprit, class, commitment, and courage, and sportsmanship on and off the court make Coach G a slam-dunk for this week’s NC Notable.
