  NC Notable for 04/20/06

Mack Pearsall

Mack PearsallAs a “lawyer by license, a businessman by trade, and an environmentalist by choice,” Asheville resident Mack Pearsall is this week’s NC Notable.

When Mack Pearsall gets involved in a project he throws his entire energy behind it. He is a rare combination of practical and visionary leader and comes by that honestly. His family heritage is rich and deep, hailing originally from Rocky Mount. Pearsall championed the hotly debated merger of city-county schools, among other worthy causes. Now he’s leading unique efforts to strengthen Asheville’s economic and community base.

But North Carolina is Pearsall’s passion. His work on the NC Progress Board is pushing the state toward a coherent, progressive future. He also chairs the Institute of Political Leadership, identifying and training a new generation of political leaders. Those pursuits are only eclipsed by Pearsall’s love of sailing.

When Governors and organizations want a job done they call on the leadership, vision, and hard working Mack Pearsall, this week’s NC Notable.
