Dr. Dianne Suber
 This week’s Notable, Dr. Dianne Suber says it’s all about the children.
Suber is the tenth President and first female to head St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh. For more than thirty years her teaching and administrative work was inspired by a mother who loved teaching.
A Florida native, Diane earned her doctorate from Virginia Tech. In her first job teaching elementary school, she was the only African American on staff during the busing controversy in Greensboro - which she credits with igniting her children’s advocacy.
At St. Augustine’s she is credited with improving retention, finances, infrastructure, and national visibility. She currently serves as an advisor for White House initiatives.
She enjoys five children and her grandchildren. She collects turtles, calling them ultimate risk takers, since they must stick their necks out and put their tails on the line. For her drive to enrich children’s lives, we make Dr. Dianne Suber this week’s NC Notable.
