Robin Britt
 Young children never had a better advocate than Robin Britt, this week’s NC Notable.
This Texas native was a Morehead Scholar at UNC, later graduating from the UNC law school. After a stint in the Navy he joined a Greensboro law firm and, in 1983, Britt was elected Congressman for the 6th District. Britt served most notably on the House Armed Services Committee.
Robin founded Project Uplift in Greensboro, which helps low income children and parents. In 1993, Governor Hunt recognized his love of children and named him Secretary of Health and Human Resources. He was later awarded the state’s highest award, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
Now the Executive Director of Guilford Child Development, Britt says he’ll continue to champion the cause of early childhood intervention. He’s most proud of his three grown children.
