In response to the SPINCycle article on State Employee Health insurance:
It is not just a "claim" but a FACT that state employees have received minuscule salary increases that were more than eaten up by their increases in health insurance premiums. And it is not just in "recent years." I can substantiate that statement by sharing my pay stubs for the last 14 years. I would be happy to share them with you and/or our state legislators. I am a teacher assistant and among the lowest paid school employees. I work hard every day to help my students be successful in the classroom and grow into responsible, caring citizens. I expect to at least be treated fairly. I understand that we are in the middle of tough economic times, but this kind of shell game has got to stop.

Just a comment on Gov. Perdue’s address that you wrote about in your column. As you stated, she has been involved in the legislature longer than any other governor and she well knows the system. She should. She has been a part of it for many years and is, in my opinion, a big part of the problems that have occurred state wide within several departments.
I really don’t anticipate any major change. Those in charge have had many opportunities to do what they please when they please and had the support of the governor and the powers in the senate and House.
