1A Americans

A podcaster described himself as “a proud 2A supporter” – 2A being the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

America needs more “proud 1A supporters” – defending the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Our 1A freedom is under attack from Trump and the MAGA Right.

They’ve been silencing dissent and criticism from universities, foundations, newspapers and citizens.

They’re now using the assassination of Charlie Kirk to target left-leaning groups they claim promote violence and terrorism.

That’s false, which is no doubt why Trump’s Justice Department took down from its website a study concluding that far-right extremists have killed far more Americans than any other domestic terrorist group.

The vanished study said, “Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives. In this same period, far-left extremists committed 42 ideologically motivated attacks that took 78 lives.”

The worst was the violent January 6 assault on the Capitol, which Trump incited. He pardoned those right-wing extremists.

All Americans – left, right and center – should condemn violence.

And condemn any attempt by government to silence speech and criminalize opposing viewpoints – like the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel.

Charlie Kirk’s admirers extol his willingness to engage in open, vigorous debate.

They should defend that right for all Americans.

The Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, put free speech first.

Let’s keep it there.

Stand up for 1A.

Speak up.
