N.C. House Speaker Tim Moore’s petty vengeance backfired.
Moore exiled Rep. Terence Everitt, a Wake County Democrat, to a tiny office in the basement of the Legislative Building.
Everitt posted this sign (photo) in his new office:
“I asked prosecutors to open an investigation into credible allegations that Speaker Tim Moore used taxpayer money to bully and bribe women into having sex with him. This office assignment doesn’t really scream innocence.”
But some years ago, Republican legislators banished the capital press corps to the basement.
Reporters saw Everitt’s sign – and posted it on Twitter/X.
The Speaker can banish a legislator to the basement, but he can’t bury his scandals there.
