A wacky idea

Talk about strange things happening: Up in Washington two tribes of politicians have been pummeling each other night and day over who deserve the blame for shutting down the government.

Then, unexpectedly, one tribe changed directions.

First the House Republicans voted to fund national parks and monuments, then they voted to fund part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, then operations for the District of Columbia, then cancer research at the National Institute of Health.

Which all sounded reasonable.

If the Montagues and Capulets in Washington couldn’t agree on funding the whole federal government – why not fund the parts they do agree on?

There was a brief glimmer of hope until the Chief of the Senate Democratic tribe declared, That’s a wacky idea.

Who’d have expected it?

One tribe says, ‘Let’s fund the Department of Veterans Affairs and cancer research – we all agree that’s good work – and the other tribe says, No way – that’s a crazy idea.

It’s sort of leaves you scratching your head.

Norm Kelly says:

So, in other words, the Democrats are hell-bent on keeping the government shut down at all costs. Democrats were the only ones talking about a shutdown before it became a reality. Democrats are the only ones insisting that the shutdown continue. But most press reports continue to carry the Democrat line that Republicans in the House are responsible for the shutdown because they are not willing to 'negotiate'.

What' missing from most reports, but Carter hits right on the head? Democrats forced the shutdown AND Democrats are NOT willing to negotiate. Once again, in this case as in most cases, when Democrats use the word 'negotiate' they really mean 'capitulate'. When Democrats use the word 'compromise' they really mean take 100% of their plan, ignore/drop your own plan, and follow us. It's either the Democrat way or no way at all.

The biggest challenge has been that media outlets around the country sucked down the Democrat line without question. This included radio, tv, newspaper, magazine. Then something happened. People were given a choice. People started realizing they were being LIED to, and they didn't like it. People realized they were NOT getting the full story, so they started changing their sources for information. What happened is that people started objecting to getting only part of a story, so they continued their flight to actual news sources.

Where have you heard that Congress & staff get a subsidy for their health insurance benefits as high as 78% (might be 72%, but at that point does it matter?). The law says that companies with more than 50 employees, where pay is above a certain percentage over the poverty line, employees are not allowed a subsidy - or some such wording. But somehow the King decided, on his own, without support from the law, to say that section of the law applies to the House, Senate, and their staffs. So when we were told that Congress & Washington would be forced to participate in this stupid law just like you & I are forced to participate in this stupid law, they actually, really, truthfully LIED to us. Of course, thinking people know that Obamacare was a lie from the beginning. All of socialism is a LIE.
