Broken promise

Roy Cooper has seized the winning issue for 2026.

He isn’t officially running, but last week he sent a fundraising email that began:

“There is no upside to taking health care away from millions of Americans.

“Yet Washington Republicans passed a new budget bill that will do just that, even though Donald Trump promised Medicaid and Medicare wouldn’t be touched.”

Trump broke his promise.

Millions of Americans will lose healthcare.

Billionaires will get tax breaks while cancer patients lose chemotherapy coverage.

Cooper said, “Let’s be clear: Americans who rely on Medicaid and federal subsidies under the Affordable Care Act will get sick and die because of this decision. And those of us who are covered by private insurance will be harmed, too.”

He can quote Republican Senator Thom Tillis, who said on the floor of the Senate that Trump betrayed his promise and that 600,000-plus North Carolinians could lose healthcare coverage.

Whoever Trump picks to run for Senate will be in a box: Do they agree with Tillis or Trump?

They have to say Trump.

They have to embrace his “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Some Trump supporters are mad he broke his promise to release the Epstein files.

Wait ‘til they get a load of this broken promise.

Wait ‘til they get a Big Beautiful Bill from the doctor.
