Richard Nixon beat George McGovern by a landslide in 1972, got caught in a lie – on tape – was out of office.

Lyndon Johnson promised he’d never send American boys 10,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean to fight in Vietnam, beat Barry Goldwater in a landslide – after the election sent 500,000 boys to fight in Vietnam; standing in the White House staring at reporters boasted he was winning the war – the Tet offensive proved he was telling another tale. He didn’t dare run for reelection.

Back in those days lies sunk politicians. But those days are past.

Before the last presidential election clutching the podium in the White House Trump boasted he had coronavirus under control – he didn’t. But now he’s back leading Biden in the polls.

Biden told people he didn’t know anything about his son’s business – it turns out he did. He tells people he stands 100% behind Israel but in the next breath tells Israel to ‘pause’ its war with Hamas.

Times have changed.

Republicans cheer Trump.

Democrats cheer Biden.

And lies no longer matter.
