Fading in Front of Our Eyes

Last week, posting across the internet, President Trump said, ‘As everyone knows, I am an extraordinarily brilliant person…’

Scratching my head, I wondered, Who on earth’d say that about himself?

Of course people say things they shouldn’t all the time on social media – and get away with it.

But, still, posting, Everyone knows I’m extraordinarily brilliant…

…sounded odd, like a sign we’re sailing into an era where old-fashioned virtues like humility are fading in front of our eyes.

But let’s not forget vices – like pride – come with a price…and head back to solid ground.
