Back on the campaign trail he’s on social media every day saying how much he adores Trump, telling voters if he wins Trump wins.
That worked out for him in the primary.
But he’s in a different election now – where Trump’s not popular with the voters he needs to win: Independents.
So why can’t Michael Whatley see that?
Let’s take a look inside Republican politics.
The folks who run Republican campaigns live in what’s called ‘Trump world’ – and in that world they need Trump’s blessing to thrive. So the reason Whatley’s praising Trump is simple: It helps bring them the blessing they need.
But, still, it’s odd they landed Whatley between a rock and a hard place with Independent voters. But that’s how Republican politics works these days.
