Ray Midgett says:

Tom, you said it is widely acknowledged that we (NC) have the weakest governor in the country. May I ask, on what basis? and where is the nonbiased criteria for this remark?

As a political observer from Dare County, who, for a long time boasted of having one or more of the most powerful Democratic machines in NC, I have to say the climate here is of mass Democratic hysteria at the loss of such powers, to the point they will grab anything and throw it at the GOP. Meanwhile, the GOP in former Senator Marc Basnight,s home county is treading lightly, but carrying a big stick. Indeed, for Dare County, the fall from the throne to the bottom of the barrel has bruised a lot of egos. However, to Basnight's credit, he has steered clear of all the pandemonium, and I admire him greatly for that.
