Three tips on how to navigate this political season

The political season is upon us again … with a vengeance. Nowadays it seems to always be that time. So much money – so little time.

If you think our politicians just can’t agree on anything, you would be wrong. They seem to agree to these basic principles: First, they all love the power, prestige and money associated with being a member of Congress. Generally they all seem to want to stay in office as long as possible. They know a divided Congress based on factions produces more contributions than one where the members simply do the business of the people without undue rancor.

Here is my advice for surviving the avalanche of misinformation, misdirection and all around mischief that’s headed our way. First, do not pay any credence to any advertising on television, radio or in print. You can be certain that facts are generally taken out of context to support predetermined positions. None is unbiased and is therefore no more or less than propaganda.

To paraphrase American writer H. L. Mencken, “Under (our system of) democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule – and both commonly succeed, and are right.” The opposing party then blames the downfall of the free world on the other party.

Next, listen to the advice of our founding president, George Washington. In his day parties were called factions and he fought long and hard to try to prevent his beloved nation from becoming a victim to their evil influences. In his farewell address he wrote the following about political parties, “They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party.” President Washington went on to say, “The alternate domination of one faction (party) over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge is a frightful despotism…”

This issue must have been important to him as he devoted more than 10 percent of his text to this subject alone. Our two dominant political parties have become the force he so strongly warned us against. The annual reading of Washington’s farewell address in both houses of Congress was a longstanding tradition until 1984, when the House of Representatives abandoned the practice.

No political party can be all right or all wrong. Today, the fastest growing political affiliation is unaffiliated. So, if you are a member of either major political party, get out – now. Be mindful about your support and your vote. Only support candidates when you feel certain you know their character either directly or through others you trust.

Our nation is counting on you. When our electorate becomes mindful of their duty we will realize the future George Washington envisioned.

Word! Voters can end the endless ads by voting against the candidates the ads support. No government infringement on speech required.

Norm Kelly says:

Moving toward socialism will solve the problem of factions and parties.

Take K's most recent example as a perfect one for what to look out for and what to avoid. In the Sunday noise & disturber, K is quoted as saying that it's none of an employers business which contraceptive or abortion-inducing drug an employee takes advantage of. The noise & disturber is aptly named. First because they print this without question or comment. Second the same N&D story blames Republicans for blocking the bill to override the Hobby Lobby decision by SCOTUS. Did the N&D report the whole story or even some version of the truth? Nope. But we've come to expect that. This is the reason the 'news' paper is referred to as the Noise & Disturber as well as being referred to as a 'rag'. They don't bother letting their readers know the truth because, as an ally of the demon party, the truth is irrelevant. First, the vote on the bill. Who voted AGAINST the bill? None other than the ever-senile Harry Reid! Did the N&D report this, mention it in their story, put it as a footnote in the article? Nope. Not mentioned. Ignored because it might be damaging to their allies, and especially K's campaign.

Second is K's position as described in the N&D story. I actually do believe that K has this position and has publicly made this statement. Why? First because it's so id10tic. Second because it falls in line with her socialist leanings. K says that it's not the employers business what abortive drug a female employee wants to take. It's just the employers responsibility to PAY FOR IT! So, responsible for the bill but not responsible for how their own money is spent!?!?! That is a true sign of a socialist. Not just someone who has socialist leanings or tendencies, but someone who IS a socialist to the core! We'll tell you how to spend your money, and you get ABSOLUTELY NO say otherwise! WE are the central planners and WE KNOW BETTER how to spend your money than you do! If we force you to pay for something that you don't agree with, it is your responsibility to sit down, shut up, pay the bill.

Can ANY LIB or socialist like K show us an example of where socialism has succeeded around the world HALF as well as American free enterprise and freedom have succeeded? The obvious answer is NO! Cuz it's an impossible answer to find. Take the VA Medical system as a perfect example, right here in OUR country, not some foreign land. Is the VA Medical system taking care of our vets? The answer is the same as the occupier has told us about the southern border. Not only is the border more secure than ever, but the vets are being taken care of better than ever. Except the border has more holes than a colander, and vets are dying waiting for service. So, exactly how good is socialism working here in the US that people like K and the current occupier feel it's necessary to expand it?!?! (have you read the story of the vet who waited 11 minutes for an ambulance to transport him to the hospital? he was sitting in the hospital cafeteria at the time. about 500 yards from the hospital. a cafeteria, mind you, with doctors & nurse eating lunch! he died waiting for the ambulance! if you get your 'news' from the N&D rag, then no you have not heard about this story!)

If we ONLY have the socialist party to deal with, imagine how satisfying it would be to live in the US and how little our lives would be disturbed by political advertising.

When you read the N&D and many other 'news' rags, keep in mind that you are getting only part of the story. In some cases you aren't even getting close to the truth. If you subscribe to the N&D and many other rags, it is in your own best interest to do your own research to find the truth. Don't bother with the political ads. Especially those produced by senile Harry's organization. No truth to be found there! And especially skip the N&D editorial endorsement page. Without question they will endorse the demon party candidate or they won't endorse anyone for that office. Their endorsement editorial won't contain many facts, not much useful information, but they will conclude anyway that the demon candidate is still the best choice. And if you read it you will be left scratching your head in wonderment!
