Trump has a credibility canyon

Voters don’t believe what Donald Trump says any more.

In our recent poll of Unaffiliated voters, 82% - more than four in five - said they don’t believe his promise to send every adult a $5,000 check if Republicans keep control of Congress.

Only 14% think they’d get the check.

In the 1960s, Lyndon Johnson had a “credibility gap” on Vietnam. Trump has a Credibility Grand Canyon.

It doesn’t matter what he says at his rallies or on Truth Social; too many voters believe he’s lying.

We asked the Unaffiliated voters whether they agree with Trump that “the only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!”

Only 14% agreed; 77% disagreed.

Trump and Republicans say the war in Iran is worth paying more for gas. But 62% of Unaffiliateds say it isn’t worth it; only 27% agree with him.

And 70% of Unaffiliated voters support “immediately ending the military conflict in Iran.” Just 21% oppose ending the war immediately.

We asked “How likely do you think it is that President Trump’s tariffs will help bring manufacturing jobs back to North Carolina in the next few years?”

That’s unlikely, 59% said; only 34% said likely.

What will happen in the (likely) event that Trump claims fraud in this year’s elections?

By a 60-19% margin, Unaffiliateds say Trump’s claim of fraud shouldn’t prevent someone from being seated in Congress.

Unfortunately for Trump and Republicans, voters have figured out where - and who - the fraud is.

You can see the overall results of the Unaffiliateds poll here and the crosstabs - the breakdown by age, gender, race, party, etc - here.
