Trump Under…Water?

I wasn’t surprised when the N&O reported that a new poll found Trump’s approval rating in North Carolina has fallen to 41% – with 48% disapproving.
I was surprised by this about the High Point University poll: “And if you’re wondering the political makeup of those polled, 35% consider themselves Republicans, 28% Democrats and 32% independent.”
Say what?
In North Carolina today, Democrats and Republicans each make up about 30% of registered voters and Independents, 40%.
If Trump is that far down in a too-Republican poll, he and the GOP are in deep doo-doo, as George H.W. Bush would say.
Another sign: In Texas last week, a Democrat won a 14-point victory in a state Senate district around Fort Worth that Trump carried in 2024 by 17 points.
That’s a 31-point swing.
Steve Bannon once described Trump’s strategy as “flood the zone with shit.”
Trump may be drowning in his own … stuff.
