Yes, he will

Almost every day, somebody asks me, “Will Roy Cooper run for Senate?”
Yes.
I have no inside information. But the former governor is putting together his campaign team. He’s speaking out on social media.
And he’s wise to wait.
Waiting keeps the focus on who Trump picks to run for Senator Thom Tillis’ seat.
Trump, not North Carolina voters, will pick the Republican candidate.
Whoever it is will get all the disadvantages of Trump – without the advantages of Trump being on the ballot.
Many Trump supporters turn out only for Trump. That’s why Republicans underperformed in 2018 and 2022.
Lara Trump? She’s a TINO – Trump in Name Only.
Politics is unpredictable, but history says North Carolina’s mid-terms go against the party in the White House.
By November 2026, Americans will be feeling the impact of Trump’s tariffs (which are taxes), healthcare cuts, veterans’ healthcare cuts, food assistance cuts and damage to most everything people want from the federal government – from predicting storms to recovering from storms.
The verdict could be brutal for Republicans.
So, yes: Run, Roy, run.
When the time is right.
