Slides From NCGA Health Briefing

Leading state health organizations were at work early this morning briefing members and staff of the General Assembly about the burden of chronic disease in the State. These diseases include diabetes, heart disease, cancers and diseases of the lungs, and touch the lives and health of almost every North Carolinian. In a program titled “Prevention as a Partnership,” state health organizations outlined how they are working together to prevent the incidence of chronic disease, touching on key initiatives that reduce the incidence of controllable risk factors. The program was aimed at educating legislators, especially members of the 2013 Freshman class, on critical health issues and the role they play in the quality of life and the economic vitality of the state.
