What's the price we pay if we close our eyes?

Two years ago facing Trump on a debate stage Joe Biden fell apart in front of our eyes. Growing older caught up with him.

Before that debate, giving his State of the Union speech, slipping into confusion, Biden described Ukrainians as Iranians. Never realized he’d made a mistake. Didn’t correct it.

The other day at the NATO Summit in Turkey, slipping into confusion, rambling, Trump said, “The Islamic Republic of Japan” fired missiles at us. Iran fired the missiles. Not Japan. But Trump didn’t realize he’d made a mistake. Didn’t correct it.

After he started negotiating the peace agreement – the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran – Trump told us he saw Iran’s leaders as ‘rational people…nice to deal with…smart people.’

Now he’s telling us they’re ‘scum…sick people.’

So is history – in an odd way – repeating itself in front of our eyes? Is age catching up with Trump too?

That’s an unkind question to ask – but what’s the price we pay if we close our eyes?
