Falling apart

President Trump told us we ‘obliterated’ Iran’s military. Then in the blink of an eye Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz. Without a military.

How was that possible?

What happened next was worse.

President Trump told us our allies were sending warships to help re-open the strait – but in the next breath Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan said no, they wouldn’t send warships.

Was that a betrayal? Or a blunder by us?

Alliances are built on trust. That’s their glue.

But Trump sees alliances in a different light – he likes to make deals. Where we gain. And our allies lose. He did that with tariffs and when he threatened Greenland, Canada, other allies. But doing that destroyed trust.

So now our alliances are falling apart in front of our eyes.

Angry, hitting our NATO allies for not sending warships, Trump called them ‘COWARDS’– said we’ve already obliterated Iran. So we don’t need allies.

But mullahs in Iran are not our only enemy.

We live in a world surrounded by enemies.

So stop for a moment and ask a question: Are we safer with alliances falling apart?
