All this showed up in headlines last week:
· Bent on power both parties are using redistricting to win the next election;
· After putting his name on buildings, gold coins, dollar bills, President Trump is now putting his picture on passports above a gold signature;
· The former FBI Director got indicted for taking a photograph of seashells – because somehow that’s a threat to the president;
· The current FBI Director – wide-eyed Kash Patel – sued Atlantic Magazine for a whopping $250 million;
· President Trump sued the IRS for forty times that – $10 billion;
· While we’re fighting a war Secretary of War Pete Hegseth flew Kid Rock around Washington on a helicopter;
· Appealing to President Trump a group of Washington politicians introduced legislation to spend $400 million on his White House ballroom;
· The President and the Speaker of the House both told us we’re not in a war with Iran;
· Congress told Trump if he wants to attack Cuba he can do it without Congress’ approval;
Years ago, after watching a week like that, fretting, I asked an older friend how much harm he thought had been done.
He laughed, voice ironic. ‘Don’t worry. Look at the bright side. Only our country got hurt.’
